HEALING MASS - Wednesday , May 12, at 7:00 p.m., at Star of the Sea Church, Father Albert MacPherson, OSA, will join us for Holy Mass with a Service of Healing. For nearly 25 years, Fr. Albert MacPherson, O.S.A., has travelled the globe on a healing mission. He takes his special healing ministry to parishes and provides parish communities with healing Masses and retreats. Thousands have been helped through his healing ministry - spiritually, psychologically and physically. It is hoped that this celebration will help all of us to grow stronger together as a Christian Community and help us to heal any hurts or wounds from the past. Everyone will be welcome to come forward for prayers for healing. As with any Mass, those who are properly disposed may receive Holy Communion, otherwise one may make an act of Spiritual Communion. A free-will offering will be taken to support Healing ministries.
I AM GOING AWAY At the Last Supper Jesus announced that he was "going away". The Church interprets this as a reference to the Ascension. Where, exactly, did Jesus go and why? The people of the Middle East took things literally. They believed that heaven was somewhere beyond the sky--which they thought was a dome above the earth. Jesus did not come to teach astronomy, so he rose up into the sky as a way of saying that he was going to something "greater". Why did he leave? He was probably teaching that his followers should no longer look for physical apparitions. He would remain spiritually with them through his Holy Spirit. This would force the disciples to begin their mission to "go out to all the world and preach the good news."

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY Thank you, God for my mother. How many times have I said that I will be different from my mother — “better”, unusual— not like her. Yet here I stand, morally and lovingly hers. Thank you, God for all that she said and that she did not say, for all that she did and all that she left undone. Thank you, God, for letting me become so many of those good things that were my mother— the things I had not the wisdom to see in an earlier day. Thank you, God, for my mother. - Donna Schaper. We also remember in prayer our Moms who have gone on ahead of us, We love you, Mom. |
