STAR OF THE SEA NEWS Annual General Meeting - is scheduled for Sunday, April 11 immediately after Mass at the Canso Lions Club. This will be a POT LUCK event so bring what you would like to eat and we will share it. Chairpersons of each committee are reminded to have their annual reports ready for presentation.
Spring Fling: We are looking for volunteers to help out as well as donations for the variety booth. The event this year will host Chocolate, Panda, and Variety wheels, Crowns & Anchors, Sucker pull, Fish Pond, Children’s booth, Ice Cream, Hot dogs, hamburgers. We would also like to have a Bake Table at this event, providing there are people to work at it. The Canso Fire Hall has been booked for Friday, May 7 (Lobster Card Play) and Saturday, May 8, Mother’s Day Weekend. Please reserve that day on your calendar. More information to follow.

ST. JOSEPH NEWS Family Night continues on Friday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Youth, parents, grandparents and parishioners are welcome.
Women’s Night - is held every Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Convent. We have prayer, sharing, fun and lunch. Women from our four parishes are welcome come at any time.
Thank You - Many thanks to Eric Munroe and Deanna Veinotte who asked for and received donations from Tim Horton’s at Dalhousie University; special thanks to Eric and Deanna for also donating many items toward a Tim Horton’s and Easter Basket. Thank you Tim Horton’s! Thanks to the 15 families who sold tickets and the very generous buyers - $700.00 was raised! The lucky winner was Cecile Greencorn. Again, thanks one and all.
Annual Parish Picnic - preparations have begun for the main fund-raiser of the year, which will take place Friday, May 21 - Sunday, May 23. Parishioners are kindly asked to give a PRIZE in the near future. More details will follow in a flier.
NOTES Pilgrimage to the Holy Land - Are you interested in walking in the footsteps of Jesus in Nazareth, having Mass in Bethlehem, praying at Calvary, or visiting Cana? Then join Fr. Doug MacDonald, a priest of the Diocese of Antigonish as he leads a pilgrimage to the Holy Land from Sept 18 – 28, 2010. Fr. Doug has spent five weeks traveling throughout Israel and has visited all these holy sites connected to our faith and is now returning as a priest to lead a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Eucharistic Ministers will be required for both the Bread and the Cup effective April 11 in all parishes.
Double Alleluia - during the Octave of Easter a double “alleluia” is added to the dismissal and its response at Mass. i.e. Go in the peace of Christ, alleluia, alleluia, Thanks be to God, alleluia, alleluia.
Easter Season - The seven weeks from Easter to Pentecost are celebrated as one great feast day. St. Athanasius called them “the great Sunday”. Christians sing the “Alleluia: during these days in their rejoicing.
Vocations Sunday - the annual collection for the Antigonish Diocesan Society will take place in all parishes of our diocese on Sunday, April 25. |

ST. AGNES NEWS: Prize Bingo - will be held Saturday, April 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the parish hall. Donations will be collected during the week. Proceeds to help cover the cost a new furnace for the church.

WOMEN’S RETREAT St. Joseph’s Renewal Center, Mabou. The annual Guys. Co. Women’s retreat will be held Friday, June 4, 7:30 p.m. - Sunday, June 6, noon. This retreat provides time for input, reflection, sharing and socializing. Please register with Sisters Alma or Florence (358-2346) or Marie 366-2336. We have a GREAT time. Registration is required so we can prepare materials.
