Catechists - if you interested in becoming a catechist or remaining as a catechist please contact Marie. It is not too early to think of September and it comes around so quickly.


ST. JOSEPH NEWS

Regular Saturday Night Bingo - has resumed and starts at 7:30 p.m. in the parish hall. Money prizes, Building jackpot and Toonie Jar. All are invited to attend, or perhaps offer to help out. It would be greatly appreciated.


STAR OF THE SEA NEWS

Prize Bingo- next parish bingo is Sunday, June 20 at 7:00 p.m. in Canso Fire Hall. Donations are needed, please drop off to the vestry or call

Diggie for pick-up.


Liturgy committee meeting - meeting will be held Monday, June 14 at 6:30 p.m. All committee members are requested to attend.


Parish Council - special thanks is extended to out-going council members, Harry Delorey, Rita Johnson and Gerry Parker, for your past service, we appreciate your willingness to serve parishioners. Our present parish council members are Harry Dollard, Janet Delorey, Allan Penny, Judy White, Brenda Garrity, Marlene Bond, Pat Rhynold, Ginny Boudreau, Clarice Avery, Juanita Dort, Bruce Munroe and George Parker. Thank you for the work you do. Next parish council meeting will be held September 7.

A Mission will be held at St Ann's Church in Guysborough on June 20, 21, and 22 with Father Paul Abbass, facilitator. Theme "Spirituality of Hope". Time of Mission is 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Interested parishioners as asked to contact the parish office so we can arrange transportation.


Annual Walking Pilgrimage to the shrine of St. Francis in Skiff Lake, NB will take place Saturday August 7 and Sunday Aug 8. Pilgrimage will begin in McAdam and end at Skiff Lake. Torbay Legion located in Communities along the Bay in Larry's River invites everyone to attend the #5 Radar Reunion events to be held at our branch on Sunday 20 June. # 5 Radar was an Air force Station from 1942-1945 and was located in Cole Harbour/Queensport Barrens. The surviving Veterans will be in attendance. The Service begins at 1100 am. We have an excellent Air Cadet Band coming from Sydney to play for this event. Following the service you will be treated to a Ham and Scalloped Potatoes Dinner. The official opening of the new Interpretative Site will take place later the same day in Cole Harbour. There will be over 125 photos to view of Cole Harbour Station during the War.


For seniors, we invite you to join us on Saturday 19 June at 1200 for a special luncheon with the #5 Radar Veterans and their families. Mr Mickey Stevens who was a Sgt at Cole Harbour will be guest of honour and is looking forward to meeting the seniors from the area. Please come out and make the veterans welcomed and walk down memory lane viewing the photo's and displays.
