Closing Celebration - special thanks to the children, youth, catechists, parents and Fr. Andrew for participating in this wonderful celebration. The children’s planters are near the entrance of St. Agnes and Star of the Sea churches and we are waiting for our little seeds to grow. May you have a summer full of God’s blessings and may your seeds of faith grow strong.

Catechists - if you interested in becoming a catechist or remaining as a catechist please contact Marie. It is not too early to think of September and it comes around so quickly.

First Reconciliation - congratulations to Mackenzie Casey and Emerald Newell who celebrated Reconciliation on Thursday, May 13 and received God’s gift of mercy in forgiveness of sins. May you always be ready and happy to come to God and receive his forgiveness. Thank you to Fr. Andrew for working with the children in preparing for this sacrament.

First Eucharist - congratulations to Rheanna Casey, Cassidy Fougere, Rylie MacLean, Regan Parker, Brady Rhynold and Hanna Rhynold who received Jesus for the first time in the Eucharist this Sunday. COLOGNE/PERFUME - Exposure to perfumes and other scented products can trigger serious health reactions in individuals with asthma, allergies, migraines, or chemical sensitivities.

In order to protect those individuals with fragrance sensitivities and to possibly prevent others from developing such sensitivities, our parishes are asking for voluntary cooperation towards a scent-reduced environment. Parishioners are strongly encouraged to avoid or reduce the use of fragranced products, and to replace them with unscented alternatives. We are currently working on obtaining hypo-allergenic incense.

"Religious articles, books and DVD's are available for purchase before and after all Masses at Star of the Sea until next Sunday. The proceeds will go to the Augustine Contemplative Sisters at Our Lady of Grace Monastery, Monastery."

As you know, over the past several months, the process of the pooling of Parish and Diocesan Liquid Assets and Investments has been underway. This is being done in order to fulfill the requirements of the Legal Settlement Agreement of the Class Action Lawsuit. As a further step in meeting the financial obligations of this Court Approved Legal Settlement Agreement, the orderly sale of land and property (non-core assets) will be starting soon. In order to assist with this process, information meetings will be held in three regions of the Diocese, to which Parish Pastoral Councils and Parish Finance Committee Members are invited. These meetings will be held:

Monday, May 17, St. Joseph Parish Hall, Port Hawksbury

Tuesday, May 18, St. Ninian’s Place, Antigonish

Wednesday, May 19, 7:30 p.m. Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Sydney River

Members of the Financial and Legal Settlement Committee will be present to address issues, hear comments and respond to questions.
