Communion will be brought the sick and shut-ins the first Friday of each month. If you wish to have your name or that of a family member added to the list please contact the parish office.
HEALING MASS - Holy Mass With A Service of Healing on Tuesday, May 12, at 7:00 p.m., at Star of the Sea Church, Father Albert MacPherson, OSA, will join us for Holy Mass with a Service of Healing. It is hoped that this celebration will help all of us to grow stronger together as a Christian Community and help us to heal any hurts or wounds from the past. Everyone will be welcome to come forward for prayers for healing. As with any Mass, those who are properly disposed may receive Holy Communion, otherwise one may make an act of Spiritual Communion.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Group sessions - resume for all groups in both Star of the Sea and St. Agnes. Group sessions will run until Monday, April 26.

Children’s session for First Reconciliation is Wednesday, April 21 at 2:45 p.m. in the Glebe.

STAR OF THE SEA NEWS Parish Council - next monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, May 11 (May 9 is Mother’s Day) at 7:15 p.m. in the vestry. Nominations for parish council will be held Sunday, April 18 and 25. Please give some thought to who you might nominate or see if God is calling you to this ministry. Parish Council election will be held Sunday, May 2 and 9. Committee reports (AGM) will be available to parishioners next Sunday.
Annual General Meeting - special thanks to all who came to the meeting, brought food, offered opinions, showed an interest in our parish. Thank you to the Canso Lions Club for their help with the food.
Spring Fling: We have volunteers for these aspects of the Spring Fling: Card Play for Lobsters (Gerry) Ice Cream (Anita), Bake Table (Carolyn, Deanna) Children’s White Elephant Table (Cassy), Chocolate (Marie), Panda(Ray/Judy), Variety (Diggie) wheels. We need volunteers for Food Booth, Fish Pond, Sucker Pull, Balloons and Ticket sales. The Canso Fire Hall has been booked for Friday, May 7 (Lobster Card Play) and Saturday, May 8, Mother’s Day Weekend. Please reserve that day on your calendar.

ST. JOSEPH NEWS Family Night continues on Friday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Youth, parents, grandparents and parishioners are welcome.
Women’s Night - is held every Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Convent. We have prayer, sharing, fun and lunch. Women from our four parishes are welcome come at any time. Annual Parish Picnic - preparations have begun for the main fund-raiser of the year, which will take place Friday, May 21 - Sunday, May 23. Parishioners are kindly asked to give a PRIZE in the near future. More details will follow in a flier.

Vocations Sunday - the annual collection for the Antigonish Diocesan Society will take place in all parishes of our diocese on Sunday, April 25.
Family Vocation Prayer Loving God, each member of our family is a special gift from you. You have given each of us gifts and talents so that we may enjoy life but also so we can share with others. Generous and loving people are needed for service and leadership in our Church. Help us to know how to encourage and support each other so that we can respond generously to this need. National Cursillo Conference This year, the National Cursillo Conference will be held at St. F. X. University from June 24th to June 27th, 2010. All Cursillistas are invited and encouraged to attend. Local participation is encouraged as the conference is intended for the benefit of all Cursillistas, not just for reps from across the country. On line registration forms are available at Cursillo Canada or by contacting Elaine Sponagle at 922-2614 or Linda MacDonald at 752-6928. The final date for registering using the discount is April 30th. The Friday evening ULTREYA and Saturday evening FIESTA are open to ALL CURSILLISTAS and is free of charge. Even if you are unable to attend the whole Conference, please plan to attend the Ultreya and Fiesta. We have a rich Cursillo history in Tri-county to share with the rest of the country. Concert - 2nd Knights of Columbus concert featuring Sheumais Macleod along with other local entertainers will be held this Sunday, April 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Maple Hall in Heatherton. Again there will be a free-will offering at the door and the proceeds will go to support Cathy’s Place at St. Martha’s Hospital, the Heatherton Activity Centre and the Knights of Columbus.
