LENTEN DEVOTIONS - Sundays - Communal gathering to pray the rosary for those who are ill in our communities and beyond -The rosary will be prayed every Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. in ST. ANTHONY’S CHAPEL. All are encouraged to attend or pray the Rosary wherever you are.
EASTER FLOWERS/DECORATIONS: Anyone wishing to make a donation in memory of a loved one to help with the Easter flowers and decorations can do so by dropping the information into the collection basket in an envelope marked Flowers/Decorations. Easter flowers can be placed in the entrance/back of church after April 9. Heat will not be on in the vestry until Holy Thursday.
COMMUNION CALLS - If you know of anyone who is unable to get out to Mass and would like to receive Holy Communion, please call the parish office to have their name added to the list. Fr. Dan will do Communions Calls when he is available and he will call prior to the visit.
A PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS (DIOCESE OF ANTIGONISH) - Heavenly Father, bless your Church with an abundance of holy and dedicated priests, deacons, brothers and sisters. Give those you have called to the married state and those you have chosen to live as single persons in the world, the special graces that their lives require. Form as all in the likeness of your Son as that in him, with him and through him, we may love you more deeply and serve you more faithfully, always and everywhere. With Mary we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
EPIC: THE EARLY CHURCH - Session nine will be held Thursday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the glebe.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION - Group sessions for Primary, Year 2 and 6 continue Monday, April 10 at 6:00 p.m. in FECCA. Completed Home program units should be submitted to the parish office each month. For more information please contact the parish office.
Did you know the Diocese of Antigonish is hosting the Atlantic Catechetical Conference in October 2017? - The Atlantic Catechetical Association (ACA) benefits through its catechetical collaboration with the Atlantic Episcopal Assembly and the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops. The Atlantic Episcopal Assembly is the bishops of Atlantic Canada and the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis works nationally on behalf of the Canadian bishops to support faith formation of adults, youth and children.
CONFIRMATION PROGRAM - We presently have two volunteers to work with the program. More information will follow.
FIRST EUCHARIST - Sessions for the children continue Tuesday, April 11 at 6:00 p.m. in the Fishermen’s Hall in Canso. Please remember the children and their families in your prayers: Taylor Boudreau, Dalton Keefe, Marlee Rhynold, Lola Sangster, Alexander (Lex) Watt and Brooklyn MacKinnon are preparing to celebrate First Eucharist. First Eucharist will be celebrated April 22 (St. Joseph) & April 23 (Star of the Sea).
ST. JOSEPH NEWS - "Our annual parish picnic is fast approaching (May 19-21). We are asking parishioners to please give their prizes at their earliest convenience. Many hours of work go into sorting, numbering and putting prizes together. If we can get a head start, it will make it so much easier getting closer to picnic time. As you know, there are many things to be done in preparing for this major fund-raiser.

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL - The regular monthly meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 16, 6:30 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH PARISH. Parishioners are asked to please consider offering their name to serve on Parish Council. Elections will be held in May/June
LITURGY COMMITTEE MEETING - will be held Tuesday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the Glebe. All members are asked to attend.
NOTE: FUNERAL MASSES - In Canada, a Funeral Mass may not be celebrated on Sundays, Holydays of Obligation, Holy Thursday, or during the Easter Triduum (from the Mass of the Lord’s Supper through Easter Sunday inclusively). On these days a Funeral Liturgy without Mass may be celebrated. Funeral Masses are never celebrated on Sundays.

100th anniversary of the appearance of Our Lady of Fatima - Mass will be celebrated at St. Ninian Cathedral on the five first Saturdays of five consecutive months (May 6, June 3, July 1, Aug. 5 and Sept. 2) at 9 a.m., with the opening Mass on May 6 celebrated by Bishop Brian Dunn. Mass will be followed by recitation of the rosary and time for meditation. All our welcome. (In order to fulfill the requirements for the five first Saturday devotion, as given to St. Lucia by Our Lady of Fatima, participants must have the intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and: go to confession within 8 days before or after the first Saturday of the month; receive Holy Communion; recite the rosary; and meditate for 15 minutes on a mystery or mysteries of the rosary.
