A PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS (DIOCESE OF ANTIGONISH - Heavenly Father, bless your Church with an abundance of holy and dedicated priests, deacons, brothers and sisters. Give those you have called to the married state and those you have chosen to live as single persons in the world, the special graces that their lives require. Form as all in the likeness of your Son as that in him, with him and through him, we may love you more deeply and serve you more faithfully, always and everywhere. With Mary we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

The Word of God and Its Effects in Our Lives - Jesus uses parables which are very special kinds of stories; they are fictitious stories describing real life situations. Every parable therefore invites the listener to pass a judgement on the situation described in the story, which is in fact his or her own situation. Thus in the parable of the sower, Jesus invites us to look into our life and see how we accept the seed, which is God’s word, each day of our life and how much fruit we produce. It our hearts are open and if we treasure it in our hearts and we are willing to do everything required for his Word to transform us, then our life will bear fruits, fruits of love and goodness, and we can be sure to be in His kingdom for ever. The seed grows where there is openness to the word (faith), trust in its power (hope) and a readiness to go out of oneself (love). Are we open to God’s Word which has power to transform us? Do we treasure it in our hearts and are our actions always guided by the Word of God?

Cemetery Maintenance - Much work has been done to both cemeteries. We are thankful to have persons mow both cemeteries and take great care of them. However, cemeteries need ongoing maintenance. Several loads of fill are coming, Head Stones need repairs, new crosses need to be made for some graves. The CEMETERY COMMITTEE needs contributions to continue to maintain a beautiful place of rest for our loved ones. Kindly send this message to family, relatives and friends who live away. Please check the message on Facebook, Port Felix Parish Picnic page and please share it near and far. Contributions can be given to Cynthia Creamer, Corrine Munroe and Duncan (Bubbie) Bellefontaine, mailed to the parish or placed in the collection basket marked “Cemetery”. The CROSS in the cemetery needs many repairs or to be replaced. Many thanks in advance for your generous donation to the cemetery.
