REFLECTION ON TODAY’S READINGS - LOVE: Our Identity as Disciples of Christ

Lord, your message is clear: our identity card as your disciples is the love we bear for one another. No amount of prayers, pious practices or elaborate Liturgies will serve to identify us as your disciples. Even our faith in you is sterile unless it finds expression in acts of true love for our brothers and sisters. You have underscored love in action, not in mere words! The question is: When we come to evaluate our life with this Yardstick of love, only then do we realize how far still we have to go in order to become a true disciple of yours. Your love should be the measure of our love for people. The quality of our love too should be the kind you have for us: self-sacrificing, unconditional and total.

NOTES

Host Families Needed for International Student Program: The Nova Scotia International Student Program is looking for host families for the coming school year. Students from Grade 8-12 come to our schools in the Strait Region to study and learn English. They take classes with our own children and sometimes they earn credits toward a Nova Scotia Graduation Diploma. In your home, they would have their own bedroom, three meals a day and become the newest member of your family. If you are interested in learning more about the International Student Program, please call our office at 902-625-2050.

175th Anniversary Quilt - Our diocese is creating a quilt and with your help, we can include a block from every parish! Each pastor has been provided a piece of fabric. Within a 7X7-inch square you can stitch, embroider or paint an image symbolic to your parish or community. Contact the parish office if you are interested in completing the square representing your parish. Completed squares must be returned by June 10th to the parish office.

OUR FOUR CEMETERIES

Cemetery Maintenance - Maintenance fee, ($50.00) for 2019 is now due. This fee is payable to the parish cemetery where your loved one is buried. It can be placed in the Cemetery Envelope from your box of collection envelopes or placed in an envelope marked “Cemetery” at any time during the year and can be paid in installments. This fee is used for the upkeep of the parish cemetery.
