REFLECTION ON TODAY’S READINGS - Obedience: The proof of True Love of God
Christianity was never meant to be a religion of rules and regulations or of the book. It is the following of a person, Jesus Christ. Yet it seems that more and more we continue to focus on the external rather than the internal. What must we do to bring back this focus? Only one response is required: the response of Jesus, the response of love. As Jesus lived out throughout his life and in the face of all odds and opposition the reality of unconditional and absolute love, so we as Church are called to do so today. Lord, today you tell us that obedience is the proof of true love: “Whoever loves me will obey my teaching.” You, Lord, saved the world through obedience to your Father’s will that led you to the cross which you embraced with love and died on it. Help us, Lord, to express our love for you in obedience to your will and thus become a worthy abode for you. Amen.
