What does Pope Francis mean by Eucharist Culture attitudes? COMMUNION - Pope Francis says that communion is established with the Lord and among the faithful at mass where we are nourished by His body and blood. Archbishop Dunn stated “Christ is present in our gathering (thus the importance of the ministry of hospitality), in the Word (thus the importance of the ministry of lector), in the ministry of the priest (thus the importance of ministers of service) and in his Body and Blood (thus, the importance of communion ministers). The Second Vatican Council proclaimed that the Eucharistic sacrifice is “the source and summit of the Christian life” for we all draw our very life from the Eucharist. From the Eucharist, we receive our spiritual power as Church and are then sent on mission to “go therefore and make disciples” (Mt 28:19).”

COMMUNION CALLS - If you know of anyone who is unable to get out to Mass and would like to receive Holy Communion, please call the parish office to have their name added to the list. Communion Calls will be the first Friday of the month.

REFLECTION ON TODAY’S READINGS - Dealing with our daily temptations

The three temptations of Jesus in the desert by the devil remind us that no one is above being tempted. We cannot overcome temptations in our lives unless we are deeply rooted in God, always conscious of our identity, mission, and priorities in life. This is one sure lesson to learn from the example of Jesus, who prioritized the will of God as the basic principle of his life and, unlike Adam and Eve, would not succumb to the manipulation of the devil. There is no better antidote to the deceptions of the evil one than a life of unbroken communion with God. By staying close to God through prayer, we too, like Jesus, will always be vigilant. If we hold fast to what God requires of us, we will find the inspiration, discernment, and strength to recognize and overcome the deceptions of the evil one. As we journey with Jesus, let our Lenten observances serve as opportunities to renew our resolve to say yes to God and no to the devil in every situation of temptation.
