EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS 2020 - JUNE 12-14, MEMBERTOU, SYDNEY
In September, 2019, following the celebration to end our amazing 175 th Anniversary year, Archbishop Dunn announced, for the diocese, a focus on the Eucharist culminating with a Eucharistic Congress. "When we celebrate the Eucharist, we not only attend an event but we are drawn into the great mystery of love that Jesus revealed when he died for us because of his love. To draw us more deeply into this mystery, this Year of the Eucharist invites each of us to a deeper experience of encounter with Christ." - Archbishop Brian Dunn
What are some of the events and experiences happening that might interest you?
The Eucharistic Congress Planning Committee has been busy and their creative minds hard at work! The diocesan website has a special page, Transformed by Eucharist, regularly updated with information. The weekly e-mail Seven Ears of Grain, the diocesan Facebook page and the monthly newsletter are some of the social media tools being used to inform us. A calendar, depicting images of the Holy Land with reflections on the Eucharist, has been distributed to parishes that requested them.
Much like the 2002 World Youth Day celebrations, a wooden cross, along with the amazing quilt that was created for the 175th. Anniversary, are touring the diocese. A video link, from Bishop Robert Barron, where he explains the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist is accessible on the diocesan webpage. The lovely prayer card, distributed to parishes, reminds us that God is the source of all life.
