REFLECTION ON TODAY’S READINGS - The Indissolubility of Marriage

The readings of today reiterate that the sacrament of marriage is an indissoluble union in God’s plan and purpose. But this seems to be a contradiction in today’s understanding and practice. Today marriage is a very fragile institution in our permissive society and more and more people are trying to consciously avoid it. The marriage as a permanent union is founded on the value of unity and interdependence, and God accompanying it with His grace will make it a permanent union. God is ever faithful and when the married persons share in His faithfulness, they will reflect the faithfulness of God and will make the marriage a living sacrament.

NOTES

Month of the Rosary - October is the month that has been dedicated to the rosary—a set of prayers said in honor of the Blessed Mother—because Pope St. Pius V credited the Holy League’s victory at the Battle of Lepanto on October 7, 1571, to the praying of the rosary that he had enjoined upon all Christians in preparation for the battle. Parishioners are invited to join with the world in praying the Rosary this month.

For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission” - From Bishop Wayne Kirkpatrick: "There are three phases for this synod, the diocesan, national and international. Pope Francis will officially inaugurate the 26th Synod on Sunday, October 10, 2021. All dioceses throughout the world are invited to open the diocesan phase of the Synod on Sunday, October 17. This means we will offer a special Mass and hopefully commission the volunteers we need." Read Bishop Kirkpatrick's Pastoral Letter: https://www.antigonishdiocese.com/synod2021/

Season of Creation - Sept. 1 - Oct. 4
