REFLECTION ON TODAY’S READINGS Obedience to the Voice of God
Being obedient to God and the plans He has for us will always give our lives better direction. This is the conviction with which Peter spoke to the high priest who was trying to prevent him and the other apostles from preaching the Good News. Peter has gradually realised the fact that surrendering to God’s plans is a priority having gone through a series of experiences with Jesus. Like the episode in today’s Gospel where post resurrection, the Lord appeared to Peter and the other disciples who had returned to their former profession of fishing and seemed to be distraught because their hard work did not bear fruit. Jesus seeing their hopelessness advises them to try another approach. And lo! Their nets are so filled with fish that they find it difficult to haul the catch. Obedience to the word of Jesus led Peter and the disciples to something extraordinary. It’s the same with us. When we lose hope all that we need to do is surrender to the will of God and allow Him to work through us, just as he was able to with Peter and the other disciples.

SYNOD UPDATE: Pray, Connect, Share Your Story - If you could be Bishop's advisor for the day, what would you offer as suggestions for him to do, change, or continue in our diocese to support your journey and those of your family and friends?
Now through the end of May, at the invitation of Pope Francis, our diocese is among those worldwide engaged in Synod consultations and conversations, asking our faithful to share their stories, ideas and dreams for the church moving forward. Information gathered will be compiled in a report for review by regional and national bishops to be part of a national submission to the Synod of Bishops in 2023. How do people engage in the Synod? visit our website: http://www.antigonishdiocese.com/listeningchurch and complete the online survey; send an E-mail submission to listeningchurch@dioceseofantigonish.ca or mail to : Listening Church, Diocesan Pastoral Centre, PO Box 100, Stn A Sydney NS.
