Catechists - if you interested in becoming a catechist or remaining as a catechist please contact Marie. It is not too early to think of September and it comes around so quickly.


ST. JOSEPH NEWS

Regular Saturday Night Bingo - has resumed and starts at 7:30 p.m. in the parish hall. Money prizes, Building jackpot and Toonie Jar. All are invited to attend, or perhaps offer to help out. It would be greatly appreciated.


STAR OF THE SEA NEWS

Prize Bingo- Sunday, June 20 at 7:00 p.m. in Canso Fire Hall. Donations are needed, please drop off to the vestry or call Diggie for pick-up.


Altar Linens - we are in need of someone to wash and iron the altar linens. This ministry does not take very much time and can be done in your home. If you interested or would like more information please contact the parish office.


125th. Anniversary Committee - will meet Tuesday, July 13 at 7:15 p.m. in vestry of the church. Anyone who would like to donate Flower arrangements to decorate the church for the 125 Anniversary Mass or make a monetary donation in memory a family member or friend is asked to please contact the parish office. We would like to know so we can coordinate the decorations.

125th. Anniversary Auction - we are presently seeking hand crafted items for an auction. Suggested items could include Quilts, homemade dolls/bears, Paintings/Illustrations. Carvings, Tole Painted items, Prints./Framed Photography, Pottery, Stained Glass, or any other item a craftsperson would like to donate. Please contact Ginny Boudreau for more information. We have several items to start us off.


Liturgy committee meeting - meeting will be held Monday, August 9 at 6:30 p.m. All committee members are requested to attend.


Parish Council - Next parish council meeting will be held September 7.

Dover Days Picnic - will be held Friday, July 30 - August 1, 2010. A meeting will be held Wednesday, June 23 at 6:30 p.m. in the parish hall. All interested parishioners are invited to attend.

NOTES

A Mission will be held at St Ann's Church in Guysborough on June 20, 21, and 22 with Father Paul Abbass, facilitator. Each night, the main focus of the mission will be on the talk "Spirituality of Hope", the format will be the same each night with different readings. Time of Mission is 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Interested parishioners are asked to contact the parish office so we can arrange transportation.


Annual Walking Pilgrimage to the shrine of St. Francis in Skiff Lake, NB will take place Saturday August 7 and Sunday Aug 8. Pilgrimage will begin in McAdam and end at Skiff Lake. Torbay Legion located in Communities along the Bay in Larry's River invites everyone to attend the #5 Radar Reunion events to be held at our branch on Sunday 20 June, 11:00 a.m. # 5 Radar was an Air force Station from 1942-1945 and was located in Cole Harbour/Queensport Barrens. The surviving Veterans will be in attendance. We have an excellent Air Cadet Band coming from Sydney to play for this event. Following the service you will be treated to a Ham and Scalloped Potatoes Dinner. The official opening of the new Interpretative Site will take place later the same day in Cole Harbour. There will be over 125 photos to view of Cole Harbour Station during the War.


Steubenville Conference - Steubenville Atlantic High School Youth Conference for youth finishing Grade 8 up to Grade 12 will be held at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, NS from July 30 - August 1, 2010. The parish will supplement the registration fee and no one will be excluded for lack of funds. Cost per participant will be $50.00. Please contact Fr. Andrew if you are interested.
